The US Coast Guard Training Center in Yorktown, VA is only one of three Coast Guard training facilities in the nation. Originally the Navy's Mine Warfare Training School, the 400,000 acres became home to the Reserve Training Center in 1957. The Coast Guard offers 7 'A' School courses at Yorktown which include: Port Operations, Gunner's Mate, Electrician's Mate, Boatswain's Mate, Marine Science Technician, Machinery Technician, and Damage Controlman.
