In May 2013 Columbus will open the longest "Urban Whitewater" course in the world, with 2.4 miles of class I through class IV rapids. Columbus State University is a rapidly growing member of the University of Georgia University System and offers many graduate and post graduate opportunities. Many of these courses are offered at the Fort Benning location. Troy State University and Chattahoochee Valley Community College also have campuses here provide more opportunities for full and part time students.
