About Davis Monthan AFB

Named in honor of Lieutenants Samuel H. Davis and Oscar Monthan, Davis-Monthan Air Force Base is named after two Tucsonans and World War I era pilots who died in two separate aircraft accidents. The base is located within the city limits of Tucson, Arizona and includes about 25 different military units.

Davis-Monthan Air Force Base has a comprehensive health and wellness program for individuals and families through varied programs which support a healthy lifestyle.  The Airman and Family Readiness Center on base is a hub for Air Force family concerns including education and employment assistance, among many other resources.
D-M's Airmen have deep pride in both their service and their respective communities. In 2010, the airmen contributed over 70,000 volunteer hours on base and within Tucson. The Desert Lightning Team members support a wide array of local programs and organizations.
