Naval Station Norfolk, which supports the operational readiness of the Atlantic Fleet, is located in the Sewell's Point area of Norfolk. This is the world's largest naval station supporting 75 ships and associated aircraft housing the largest concentration of US Naval Forces. The Air Operations based from Norfolk Naval Station conduct over 100,000 flight operations each year. In addition, it is the hub for Navy logistics going to the US European Command, US Central Command, and the US Southern Command.
Norfolk is home to approximately 240,000 residents and is the cultural, educational and business center of Hampton Roads. Home to the world's largest Naval Base, Old Dominion University, the Port Authority, Virginia Symphony, and Eastern Virginia Medical School; Norfolk offers a rich and diverse culture.
